People often ask us what is new in the car service industry or what is going on in the Hamptons. Oftentimes we don’t have anything all that interesting to share because the essentials ultimately remain the same. Clients need us to get them from point A to point B safely, promptly and comfortably. Sometimes A to B will include C,D,E and F for chauffeured as directed work, but you get the general idea.
That said, given the circumstances of the last couple years, a trend we saw in 2022 is the return of weddings! We are over the moon excited to get back to working with event planners, affiliates and venues who need professional black car transportation for these special moments. Classic Rolls Royce, Mercedes Sprinter Vans, stretch limos and our regular fleet were fully booked from Memorial Day through Labor Day and continue to get reservations this fall.
The summer season also welcomed the return of North Fork and Hamptons vineyard tours. Everyone seemed thrilled to get back to normalcy and enjoy a sunny day with their friends and family, drinking wine, eating cheese and relaxing on the East End of Long Island. People booked large charter buses, smaller shuttles or just couples in one of our vehicles. We look forward to servicing these jobs even during off peak when the vineyards are less crowded.
Our luxury vehicle fleet has been upgraded. We now have brand new 2022 Cadillac SUVs + Lincoln Navigators for hire. For a relatively small upcharge on hourly or fixed transfer prices, you can enjoy top of the line models from either of these manufacturers. Please know you will always have the option of choosing a later model at our standard rates.
Due to the unfortunate escalation in gas prices, we made the difficult decision of adding a fuel surcharge to our standard private driving rates. For well over a year, we had absorbed this rising variable cost. But in order to maintain our premium level of service, we concluded that we simply had to pass on an additional fee, else make compromises which we were unwilling to make as a company who prides itself on preeminence.
Fortunately, our clientele – both old and new – have empathized with this necessary measure, and continue to book their ground transportation needs with us. We remain hopeful this fuel surcharge will only be temporary, and prices will return to levels we were accustomed to prior to the unforeseen spikes.
Please know that this fee is not variable with the vehicle that is booked (e.g. large SUVs consume more than a small sedan) but rather the distance traveled. For example, a local airport shuttle from Montauk to East Hampton would incur less than one from JFK to Westhampton whether this is in one of our luxury sedans or SUVs.
